NOTE: In order to use Alone in the Storm it is necessary to have any other War Storm Series game.

The War Storm Series is a series designed to simulate Combined Weapon Combat at Section Scale.

Created by Juan Carlos Cebrián and Nicolás Eskubi, and graphic design by Nicolás Eskubi (winner of several CSR Awards).

La serie está basada en el principio de ejecución simultánea, o simplemente “WE GO”, un sistema híbrido de turnos y “tiempo real”.

It offers medium complexity. Although it is designed for 2 players, it is also possible to play it alone, along with any War Storm Series game, using the new Alone in the Storm expansion.

The duration of the game will vary depending on the chosen scenario and its scale, between 1 and 2 hours.

Scale

The scale is section level, with units representing groups of between 30 and 40 soldiers, tokens of weapons representing groups of 3-4 weapons and their servants (20-25 soldiers) and Armoured Vehicles and Transports, representing groups of 3 to 5 vehicles with their corresponding crews.

Each hexagon on the map represents a distance of approximately 150 to 200 meters.

Scenarios are divided into turns representing approximately 12-15 minutes of action.

System of play

The emphasis of the War Storm Series system is on the controller, with the officers being the heart of the game.

These officers can activate units, coordinate with each other, direct artillery missions, air support missions, smoke curtains, modify morale checks, coordinate assaults and much more.

Another key point in the series is morale, which transfers the effects of leadership to the board and adds depth to the game, as the sections under our command will not be cardboard tokens that blindly obey orders, but it will be necessary to check morale to perform actions that soldiers may consider risky such as starting an assault or crossing a barbed wire.

Board

The game uses isomorphic maps, each of which can be aligned with either side of the other maps. This allows an almost unlimited number of combinations to represent any situation of the terrain, including scenarios designed by the player.

Rejugability

Beyond the interaction between the forces disputing each scenario and the changing situations of a battle, War Storm Series implements a random system for the election of officers, which, together with their different capabilities, diversifies the game experience as each scenario is tackled.

Alone in the Storm (2018)

This expansion, designed by José Manuel Moreno, brings two new modes of play: solitary and semi-cooperative.

It is fully compatible with the titles already published in the series, as well as future titles, by using the rules of the War Storm Series system.

It can also be used together with the scenarios, which in this way can be played alone or with a friend facing the IA.

It provides a set of tokens and mechanics to implement intelligence reports and the fog of war, as well as an opponent handled by an “artificial intelligence”.

It also adds a mission generator to increase the rejugability of all titles in the series.
